Master Shots Found in Movies

Contrast: In this scene from the television show “Family Guy”, this scene shows an example of contract. This is due to the main character Peter Griffin comparing the amount of money earned delivering pizzas to the amount of money he’s making now as an Uber driver.

Parallelism: From the same show, the example of parallelism is shown through Stewie using an alternate universe remote in order to switch between universe’s. Although getting both himself and Brian in trouble, not being able to get back, the parallelism shown is the possibility of alternate realities.

Symbolism: While babysitting we watched a childhood movie about a horse named Spirit trying to find his way back into the wild. The symbolism shown is the horses mane slowly turning into the green meadow field. This shows viewers the relationship of Spirit to the wilderness.

Simultaneity: In the TV show, “Family Guy”, simultaneity is shown through Louis Griffin talking about the so called “squirrels” stealing her fruit from the back yard. At the same time the real culprits of the missing fruit are outside plotting for the next attack.

Leitmotif: In the show “Family Guy”, one of the main theme songs is shown when changing locations/skits. Viewers know to open their mind to change in ideas and locations; which for a TV show like “Family Guy”, which is made up of many different skits, this is rather important.
